St Monnina (Darerca) was baptised, confirmed amd given the veil by St Patrick. She founded a place to live with her companions at Killeevy on the slopes of Slieve Gullion in Co Armagh in 450. Her name may mean ‘My Ninian’ reflecting a possible connection with Whithorn in Scotland. She was a great lover of the poor. Her grave can be found in the graveyard. There is a holy well on the mountain side above.
